Aiden Markram, South Africa’s top batsman from the Durban Test, was absent from both of the team’s training sessions at St George’s Park and did not accompany the squad from Durban to Gqeberha following the first game. Nevertheless, it is expected that he will participate in the second game and will be in attendance on Saturday.
Despite the fact that it appears that they will only employ one spinner, Harmer’s placement at second slip may not necessarily suggest that he will be selected over Keshav Maharaj. South Africa’s third option is Senuran Muthusamy.
It is anticipated that he will be included in the starting lineup for the second Test, which commences on Sunday, and will likely participate in optional training on Saturday.
While Aiden Markram was absent, South Africa employed David Bedingham, Simon Harmer (who succeeded him as second slip), Wiaan Mulder, and Marco Jansen as a slip cordon. Ryan Rickelton, who has been designated as the gloveman in place of Kyle Verreynne, executed his exercises while Verryenne assisted with throwdowns. Rickelton wore a floppy helmet.
Aiden Markram is expected to arrive in the city on Friday evening following his return home for personal reasons.
For the second day in a succession, Rickleton conducted an extensive wicket-keeping training session, which was immediately followed by an equally lengthy batting session. In what appears to be South Africa’s primary attack, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Mulder, and Jansen encountered Matthew Breetzke and Marques Ackerman, who are anticipated to replace Rickelton, who is expected to regress in the lineup, and Tristan Stubbs, who has been dropped.

More importantly, South African supporters will be relieved to learn that Aiden Markram is available after undergoing treatment for his shoulder during the first Test. That was referred to as “tightness,” and it was resolved on the field. Furthermore, he was unable to attend the initial ODI for personal reasons and returned home early from the Hundred. Markram will be entirely accessible for this game and any subsequent ones, provided that no injuries occur.
