In the first T20I against West Indies on October 6, 2026, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Shreyas Iyer hit his first T20I century, an unbeaten 102 off 43 balls. India beat the score of 172 in 14.4 overs, beating the other team by eight wickets and 32 balls to spare.

In the first few overs, India lost Abhishek Sharma for 21 runs and Sanju Samson for 11. They were now down to 35 for 2. Then Iyer joined Ishan Kishan, and the two of them put together an unbeaten third-wicket stand of 137 runs that won the game. After 27 balls, Kishan was out with 37 runs not out. West Indies scored 171 runs before being bowled out in 19.1 overs.

Iyer was under a lot of scrutiny going into the series because he hadn’t scored 50 in any of his last 10 T20Is. His hundred on Tuesday put an end to those questions for good. It was also the fastest hundred by an Indian batter in a Twenty20 International match against the West Indies.
