Prasidh Krishna, a right-arm fast bowler, has been cleared to play in all formats by the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru following extensive simulation testing on November 1 and 2. The facility’s medical experts validated the seamer’s ability to continue playing competitive cricket after conducting a rigorous return-to-match evaluation. Krishna is expected to fly to New Zealand in the near future to play for the India A squad.
Prasidh Krishna injured his hamstring during India’s second one-day international against the West Indies on September 30 in Guwahati. He was originally named to the team for the first three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) of the five-match series against New Zealand, subject to fitness clearance. On October 30, the BCCI removed him from the ODI squad, determining that he need more practice before becoming suitable for the longer format.
When will Prasidh Krishna join India A?
If Prasidh Krishna passes the Return to Play (RTP) evaluation, the Center of Excellence medical team has confirmed that he will represent India A in the third and final four-day match against New Zealand A. This allows him to practice matches and prepare for the Test series. The game is scheduled to begin on November 7.
The five-match ODI series, which begins on November 4, will not include Krishna. Prior to the two-match Test series against New Zealand, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle, he will focus on establishing match fitness with the India A team. The clearance definitely benefited his recovery from the injury that kept him out of the ODI phase of the tour.
