It’s not like Ravindra Jadeja is doing much on X. Still, the India all-rounder was on the platform for the first time in a long time on Wednesday, when the BCCI asked for applications for the open position of chairman of selectors.

The application process began after Ajit Agarkar’s time as head of the men’s selection committee finished. When the board posted something, Ravindra Jadeja just asked, “What the procedure?”

The BCCI announced Agarkar’s departure right before Jadeja’s short answer. The all-rounder doesn’t talk much on X, which makes his answer stand out. The last time he used the platform was on February 19, when he replied to a post about Nepal cricket by former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Agarkar’s term ended on October 4, and Pragyan Ojha, a former spin bowler for India, is now the interim chairman of the men’s selection committee. The other people on the panel are Shiv Sundar Das, Ajay Ratra, and RP Singh.

Ajit Agarkar is praised by Gautam Gambhir.

India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, paid tribute to Agarkar the same day that Jadeja spoke out. This was after Agarkar quit the selection committee.

Gambhir talked about Agarkar’s dedication to putting the team ahead of everything else and praised his role in India’s recent success.

During Agarkar’s time as chairman, Indian cricket had a very good time. India won the T20 World Cup in 2024, the Champions Trophy in 2025, and the T20 World Cup in 2026 while he was in charge.

Ravindra Jadeja suitability for the role of selector

Even though he said something funny, Ravindra Jadeja is not currently qualified to be a selector. According to BCCI rules, applicants must have stopped playing cricket at least five years ago. With his retirement from Twenty20 International cricket in 2024, Ravindra Jadeja is still playing Test and ODI cricket and in the Indian Premier League, so he is not eligible for the job.
