India’s Mayank Yadav got the first ball and struck twice in the first over, getting Shimron Hetmyer out for a golden duck and then getting Kamil Pooran out. The second Twenty20 International event took place at Ranchi on October 9, 2026, with India playing West Indies. India came out first to bat and made 249 runs with 5 wickets. West Indies reached 252 for 4 in 19.2 overs, beating the target and winning by five wickets. The series is now tied at 1-1.

Former India batter and cricket commentator Aakash Chopra gave Mayank Yadav a grade after the game. Chopra agreed that it was hard for Mayank to get back into international cricket after being away for a while. He pointed out that Mayank had given up runs in the last game and said that it’s normal to feel nervous when coming back to top-level cricket, especially on good batting tracks in India after a break.

The first hits Mayank Yadav made in the powerplay

Chopra talked about how important it was for Mayank Yadav to make early moves in the match. Even though he gave up a boundary earlier in his spell, Mayank got off to a good start when Kamil Pooran was bowled out. Chopra gave special praise to Shimron Hetmyer’s second wicket for how well it was taken and how fast it was.

Recognition based on speed and success

The last over of the powerplay is when Mayank Yadav got his third wicket. This is usually when the batting team scores runs. The fast pitch that got the hitter out was measured at almost 150 kilometres per hour. Chopra stressed how important it was for Mayank to get a wicket during this high-scoring phase after coming back from illness.
