For personal reasons, Ellyse Perry was unable to participate in the team’s championship-winning 2026 season. However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has declared that she is available for the WPL 2027. Perry announced her availability in August 2026, prior to the WPL 2027 Player Auction, which is scheduled for October 28, 2026, in Kochi. RCB has maintained her in their nucleus of 13 players since then.
The retained group of RCB consists of nine Indian players and four foreign players. Alongside English seamer Lauren Bell, South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk, and fellow Australian opener Georgia Voll, Ellyse Perry has been retained.
Perry was unable to participate in 2026 due to personal circumstances, as the Australian team had a busy schedule. Malolan Rangarajan, the team’s head coach, expressed her enthusiasm for the all-rounder’s return and provided a detailed explanation of how she intended to enhance the team’s structure.
What is the significance of Ellyse Perry’s return to the RCB squad?
RCB has a dependable bowling and batting option at the top of their order with the return of Ellyse Perry. Rangarajan verified that her presence has already influenced their strategy for the pool of athletes they intend to target.
The team’s approach to the remaining positions at the October 28 auction in Kochi is directly influenced by her availability as a number-three batsman. Rangarajan explicitly stated the expectations for the entire retained group. Additionally, Rangarajan articulated the franchise’s objectives during the transaction.
What is the verified next step in the preparations for the WPL 2027 by RCB?
The WPL 2027 Player Auction will take place in Kochi on October 28, 2026. RCB will have the opportunity to enhance their roster before the starting of the season by entering the auction with a roster of 13 players already acquired.
The WPL 2027 season is scheduled to commence on January 14 and conclude on February 7. RCB is the reigning champions as they enter the cycle, with Ellyse Perry returning to the team after her absence from the 2026 season. Rangarajan addressed the team’s supporters directly.
