Litton Das, a Bangladeshi veteran, underwent a medical evaluation after suffering a right hip joint injury that prevented him from participating in the ODI tri-series in the UAE, which featured Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. The medical department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board conducted an examination of the player and imaging to ascertain the severity of the injury in anticipation of the forthcoming Test series against the West Indies.

On Monday, October 19, Litton Das encountered BCB physicians and underwent light physiotherapy at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

The diagnostic scans’ preliminary findings were verified by a member of the BCB medical committee.

Nayeem Hasan’s fitness assessment and hamstring injury

While fielding in the one-off Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi, spinner Nayeem Hasan suffered a right hamstring strain. His foot was caught on the heavy outfield while diving to save a boundary off Taijul Islam’s bowling, necessitating the use of strapping during the fourth and fifth days of the match. Nayeem successfully completed the Test without any significant complications, despite the injury.

The BCB medical staff cautioned that the risk of a more severe tear was present when high-speed running was combined with sharp deceleration. Nayeem was advised to refrain from participating in the current round of the National Cricket League and was subsequently enrolled in a structured rehabilitation program. Nevertheless, the spinner has demonstrated encouraging signs of recovery.

The West Indies team arrived in Dhaka on Sunday, October 18, and commenced preparation at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, October 20. Basundhara hosted a two-day warm-up match against BCB XI on October 22. The initial Test commenced in Dhaka on October 28, and the subsequent Test is scheduled to commence in Sylhet on November 5.
