After contributing wonderfully to his team’s enormous innings and 31-run victory over Australia in the second game of their ICC World Test Championship series, South African all-rounder Marco Jansen has risen to the top of the bowlers’ and all-rounder rankings.

Marco Jansen has risen in all three categories of the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, due to a challenging innings of 85 and hauls of five for 33 and one for 34. He has also climbed 13 ranks to 56th place among batters.

Marco Jansen is the first South African bowler to top the rankings since Kagiso Rabada in November 2024, and the first Test all-rounder since Vernon Philander in August 2014.

Captain Temba Bavuma has also made great progress since his game-winning 179, which pushed him up four ranks to a career-best second place. He has the potential to become the first South African to lead the Test batting rankings since A.B. de Villiers in November 2015, trailing only England’s Harry Brook.

Fast bowler Scott Boland of Australia has risen three places to sixth in the Test rankings after collecting five wickets in two innings, while South African Wiaan Mulder has risen ten places to 43rd after also taking five wickets.
